The department's purpose is to serve the City of Thomasville by protecting the public's health, safety, and general welfare. This protection is provided through the enforcement of the technical codes and the General Statues set forth by the State of North Carolina, as well as, Thomasville's Code of Ordinances. It is our goal to enforce these codes in a professional manner and provide knowledge and understanding to contractors and citizens of Thomasville. In addition, we accept plans for review and issuance of building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits for new construction, additions to existing structures, and alterations to existing structures. The department also issues permits for demolition, storage buildings, signs, and swimming pools.
