Posted 12/11/18 10:00 am. Thomasville City Hall will OPEN Tuesday, December 11th at 10:00 A.M. Solid waste/recycling collection will be delayed. There will be NO collection on Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday's routes will be collected on Wednesday. Wednesday and Thursday's routes will be collected on Thursday. If your garbage/recycling is not collected, leave it out and it should be collected the next day. Friday should be on regular schedule. However, weather may further change the schedule, please check back for updates. Updates will be posted to our website, official Thomasville social media sites, Channel 13, and FOX 8. Street Crews have been focusing on the neighborhood streets all day yesterday and into last night. The hard freeze has caused many streets to refreeze. Crews are out this morning and work all day and into the evening clearing streets.

The Transportation Committee is appointed by the Mayor after every City Council election, usually in December. The members serve for two-year terms, at the pleasure of the Mayor. There are no term limits, however all members must be elected city council. At this time there are 3 members. Meetings are open to the public, but do not have a public comment period.

  • Acts as liaison on issues, policies, and plans considered by the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) of the High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization (HPMPO) including the Planning Work Plan (PWP), Thoroughfare Plan, Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), Project Priority Needs List, and Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program.

  • Considers issues, policies, and plans of the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) specifically relating to and acted upon by the TAC of the HPMPO.

  • Considers issues, policies, and plans of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) specifically relating to and acted upon by the TAC of the HPMPO.

  • Determines and recommends to City Council the local transportation project priorities to be incorporated into the HPMPO Project Priority Needs List.

  • Determines and recommends to City Council the transportation projects to be included on the Small Urban Works Program list as requested by the NCDOT.

  • Determines and recommends to City Council changes in the city and state street system responsibilities as annually requested by the NCDOT.

  • Acts as liaison with the NCDOT concerning projects included in the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).

  • Review and recommend changes in street names and street closing requests.

Committee Meeting Date/Time & Membership

Committee meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month, unless canceled due to a lack of business. Committee meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. and meet back-to-back until all of the committees that have been called have met. Meetings are held in the City Hall Boardroom, Mezzanine level, 10 Salem Street.
