The Public Works Department is responsible for Thomasville's Streets, Sanitation, and Fleet Services. The Department is overseen by the Public Works Director, Daryl Poole, who can be contacted at (336) 475-4239. All divisions operate out of the Public Works facility located at 525 Turner Street, Thomasville, NC 27360.

Streets Division

There are over 180 miles of streets within the corporate limits of Thomasville. However, the City only maintains 100 miles; the other 80+ miles are maintained by the State NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The Streets Division is responsible for the paving, maintenance, and cleaning of all municipally-owned streets, sidewalks, and rights-of-way. NCDOT streets include the following major streets: Salem, Unity, Main, Randolph, Liberty, Trinity, Colinger, East and West Holly Hill, Fisher Ferry, Baptist Children's Home, National Highway, and Lexington Avenue, among others. If you are unsure if a street is maintained by the City or by NCDOT, please submit a request to the City and we will route as appropriate.

Sanitation Division

Sanitation is responsible for picking-up and disposing residential and commercial solid waste, residential recycling, bulk goods, and yard waste, including seasonal loose leaf collection. For more information about the Sanitation Division click here.

Fleet Services Division

Fleet Services maintains the all of the City's vehicles and mobile equipment. The division is overseen by Jim White, Garage Superintendent, he can be reached at (336) 475-4240.

Central Supply Division

Central supply is responsible for purchasing general supplies for all city departments. This includes replacement parts for fleet vehicles and equipment, supplies that are used in multiple departments such as safety equipment, gloves, hand tools, etc. The division is overseen by Kieth Powers, Purchasing/Inventory Specialist, he can be reached (336) 475-4243.
