The Thomasville City Beautification Commission is a group of dedicated volunteers commissioned by the Thomasville City Council to beautify and enhance our community and to inspire others to do likewise. Through the commission's efforts and through awareness, Thomasville benefits in terms of Economic Development and recruitment, as well as a sense of pride in a clean and beautiful community.
The commission is responsible for the planting of the flower beds at the entrance signs, the Big Chair, fountain, and mini-park downtown. The commission oversees the downtown Christmas decorations and sponsors annual events such as "Spring Daze" and "Light Up the Holidays."
The commission is also responsible for a monthly Thomasville litter sweep. The litter sweeps are always the 2nd Saturday of the month (weather permitting) at 8:00 a.m. Everyone meets at the Clock Tower in downtown. Bring gloves, tools, appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes. We'll provide bags and safety vests. Groups are welcome, please contact Nathan Smith 336.870.3084 to schedule your group or for more information about the sweeps.
Members are appointed to three-year terms, with unlimited re-appointments.
