Posted 12/9/18 4:15 pm. Due to the winter storm, Thomasville City Hall and Recreation Department Activities and Programs will be CLOSED Monday, December 10th. Solid waste/recycling collection will be delayed. Monday's route will be picked-up Tuesday, Tuesday's route will be picked-up Wednesday. Wednesday - Friday should be on regular schedule. However, weather may further change the schedule, please check back for updates. Updates will be posted to our website, official Thomasville social media sites, Channel 13, and FOX 8.

Tropical Storm Michael Update

TS Michael Update: 11:00 AM 10.15.18 - Good news is that E. Holly Hill Road and Valley Road have been cleared. The only closed roads are Albertson Road and Forest Drive. Both have power and other utility lines down. Duke Energy is in the area and is working to clear the lines. Some streets have low hanging wires, please be careful with large vehicles.

-The YMCA has opened its doors as a shower facility to residents still without power (336) 475-6125.

-The Verizon Store at 1042 Randolph Street has opened a charging station for anyone to use to charge their mobile devices (336) 474-0020.

-The City has relaxed its tree debris pick-up and is allowing logs to be no larger than 8 feet long, instead of 5 feet. The weight limit and size of piles are waived too. It may take weeks to pick-up all of the debris. Debris from damaged structures (shingles, siding, etc.) will not be picked-up, your insurance company should handle this type of debris removal.

-Continue to report private property damage to the City (required for FEMA disaster declaration) by texting TIPSTHOMASVILLE to 888777 with the address and brief description of damages.

-The NC Baptist Men's Association has chainsaw crews available to help homeowners remove trees from their house or driveway. Please call the City at (336) 475-4210 and leave your name, phone number, and address; the City will forward your information to the group, they will contact you directly.
