All hiring decisions are based on job-related qualifications supplied to us by applicants on a standard City of Thomasville application form. Persons applying for more than one position must complete a separate application form for each position.
Resumes are not accepted in lieu of the approved application form available from the City’s Department of Human Resources. Submission of resumes in the form of supplements to the application is permissible provided the resume is job-related and in compliance with EEO guidelines. All closing dates printed in this announcement shall be considered as final dates for submitting applications. However, when an extension of any published deadline is deemed necessary to enable the City of Thomasville to meet its recruiting objectives, new ads or postings will be issued containing the revised deadline.
Not all applicants for positions with the City will receive personal interviews. Such invitations are extended only to those whose qualifications rank them as finalists. A drug screening test is required of every person to whom a job offer is extended and a negative result is required.
Any person applying for a position that requires a North Carolina driver’s license must either possess the appropriate license, or be able to obtain the license at the time of appointment.
Salary ranges are established by ordinance for each listed position. Starting salaries either begin at the minimum of the range or, when negotiated with experience and qualifications, fall within the established range.
